International Women's Day 2020 - Proud to be Owned and Managed by All Women

March 8th is recognized as International Women’s Day, a day where women across the world come together to celebrate the social, economic, and political achievements of women. As a local woman-owned business, we would like to celebrate the day by giving a shout out to all our women leaders at The Hub!

The Hub is the ONLY family entertainment center with multiple businesses under one roof that is owned and managed by all WOMEN! Owner of The Hub, Brooke Hubbard, aims to empower other women and believes women can be extremely powerful when given the chance.

“I was raised by a mother who taught me to be strong but kind. I believe that women are naturally born leaders and I work to encourage my managers.” said owner Brooke, “I feel lucky to be surrounded by these women every day. At The Hub, we are not threatened by each other, but empowered.”

What could be the most recognized business at The Hub, the Fly Zone Trampoline park, is managed by three amazing women. General Manager, Johnie Lozier oversees the park’s operations, with Mandi Glomb and Maddie Howard both as assistant managers.

“To leave a 9 to 5 office job to come work with strong women leaders in my community has been an amazing blessing.” says manager Johnie, “In a few short weeks I have been embraced with open arms by all these women. I can’t wait to see how far we can help each other develop.”

Assistant manager Maddie is the youngest manager at just 16 years old, and has become one of our community’s favorite birthday party hosts!

“I love what this small local business does for our community. Whether it’s field trips for schools or our Christmas event, we are constantly trying to find new ways to reach kids and families that may not have the opportunity to visit our facilities regularly.” says Mandi, “It is also nice to develop relationships with many of the families that regularly come in. We really strive to build a strong bond within the community.”

The Hub Pizza and More, located inside The Hub, features a full coffee shop and homemade pizza, and is managed by Makayla Will. Makayla also does double duty as a manger of Central Athletics Cheer & Tumbling.

“I love my positions at The Hub because I get to make everybody’s day whether it’s with scoops of ice cream or the refreshing taste of coffee.” says Makayla, “Working at the grind makes me feel like a powerful woman because I can handle the rush and everything that comes along with costumer service, and being a tumbling manager has really helped me get to know each and every athlete, and help them grow and develop new skills. The staff at The Hub is amazing and it feels like a second home to me, with all the support and uplifting of each other!”

Our cheer facility, Central Athletics Cheer and Tumbling (formerly Elite Cheer CB) just recently experienced structural changes, and is owned and managed by Cait Boyer, with the help of assistant manager Makayla Will. This facility is the first and only all-star cheer facility in southwest Iowa. We host local and national cheer teams, and have over 200 tumblers that participate in our many recreational tumbling classes.

“I think to go from a program director to now owner of a cheer facility shows the power of a woman’s drive.” says owner Cait “Through coaching and guidance, I am excited to play a part in helping our athletes grow into future leaders.”

Last but certainty not least is Jumping Monkeys Childcare. Manager Danielle Moore has managed the childcare since September of 2019. Currently Jumping Monkeys has 42 children, ages 18 months+ enrolled. By the end of 2020 our goal is to grow to 80 children, including infants!

“I’m incredibly grateful to grow my career with a wonderful group of women who support each other and build each other up! I wake up excited to go to my job and to create a fun balance of learning and play for the children at Jumping Monkeys.” says Danielle.

So in case you couldn’t tell before, The Hub is kind of a giant beast. Hundreds of families flood our front doors weekly and it takes a team of strong managers, like the women at The Hub, to successfully run this entertainment facility. On this year’s International Women’s Day, we are proud to be owned and managed by all these amazing WOMEN!
